iBook G4 Password Change

I have an iBook G4 with OS X that has previous users which I would like to remove, and an Administrator whose password I do not know. I've been a PC user and am not familiar with Macs, but would like to use this great little machine. I have no OS disk. I've read some of the previous responses to this question, and tried to follow directions, but I can't get to the list of users, or make any password changes. When I boot to prompts, the prompt I get is Localhost:/ root# In the list of messages, one says: "Root device is mounted read-only." Is there a way I can change passwords? Thanks! Marc

How do I slow down my IIC+? Everything is running way to fast , LOL

Can someone tell me the key commands used on my IIC+ that slows down the speed of the computer? I can't remember off hand how to enable/disable the hyper speed on this IIC+ , when I run programs its at lightning speeds lol , but I can't find in the manual how to slow it to normal op. speed....... I know there are a series of keys you press when it boots up and it tells you on the screen when this is done... Thanks.. Patrick.

IWM Pinout

Hi all. I fried my IWM in a IIgs. I have only been able to locate a DIP IWM, not the package used in the IIgs. I was wondering if anyone knows either: - If they are electrically identical (DIP & non-DIP (CLCC?)) and if so, what are the pinout differences? OR - Is someone aware of a source for the (CLCC?) package layout IWM chips used in the IIgs? Thank you! Greg

imac g5 isight power supply pinout?

a friend of mine just gave me a 17" imac g5 with the isight. he found it in the trash without an LCD or a hard drive. he turned it on with no screen once or twice and was able to hear the bong and the dvd drive trying to boot osx. since then, it will not power up long enough to bong, and after trying sooo many times to figure out the power wires coming from the dc-dc board, i have completely rendered it useless. i have ordered a new dc-dc board but in case that doesnt fix the problem, does anyone have any true hands on experience with these models? they are completely different from the first 2 revisions of the imac g5, in fact this one shares alot of internal parts with the first gen imac intel 1.83ghz. information on google is VERY slim, with most results pointing to the first 2 revisions. either way my ultimate goal with this machine is to put it in a pizza box mac case and use its external VGA port for which i have bought the adapter for. sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance!

What's the Pride and Joy of your Apple II collection

I know it is hard to say out loud which child you like the best, but I'm sure almost all of us have a favorite. If not a favorite, at least the most unique or even valuable. What is the pride and joy of your Apple II collection, if you had to pick one?

FS: Apple //c system, CRT and LCD screens, external floppy, modem, Apple carrying case

Hi, I've got a working //c that I want to sell to someone who'll give it a good home. It comes with the //c, Apple 9" CRT screen and stand, also the rare Apple LCD screen (3 3/8x 9 1/4") that case be used in place of the CRT, but not at the same time. Also, an Apple external 5.25" drive, Apple 1200 baud (!) modem, and an Apple carrying case that would hold the //c, LCD screen, and power adapter. All cables and power adapters are included, as are a number of programs/tutorials. Software included is the Prodos, Appleworks, and Access II (modem). Would be a neat thing for the Apple collector, or for someone who'd like a bit of Apple history. I'm asking $125 for it, and the buyer pays for the shipping.

Fitting PAL Encoder card

Hi I recently managed to obtain a PAL Encoder card to give me colour (color) output from my Europlus. Is there a recommended slot to fit this into? Also, the card has a trailing wire (Orange, in my case), which I assume has to be connected to the motherboard somewhere. Which connector should this wire be attached to? Regards Mark

Can I Limit My SE/30 Processor Speed To Run Certain Software at the Correct Speed?

Hi there, I have an SE/30 with a 16mhz processor and a Classic with a 8MHz processor. They both run system 6.0.5. My problem is I want to run some of the same software from my Classic on my SE/30, but the 16MHz processor speed in the Se/30 makes some programs run way too fast or crash. Is there any way to limit the processor speed like in some other Apple models? One I know that can do this is the IIGS..where you can run it at normal or enhanced speed. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

potential purchase on a apple //c...

Hi, I found someone local that is selling an apple //c. Never owned a //c but have owned an apple //+,//e back in my childhood days. I would like to know what the going rate is for such a system. Seller is selling it complete with monitor and probably with software. havent looked at it yet but from pictures it has something booted up so it looks like its working. Seller is asking $125.00 for it, is this reasonable? What things should i look at? I have a slew of //+,//e 5.25 programs still at my parents place but can //c run these programs? Does //c have basic, integer, or just prodos? How are these compared to //e's? Are these things upgradable like the //e? (ie: ram) thanks in advance.

G4 Powerbooks] Resetting battery gauges...

On my G4 Powerbooks both computers have their battery gauges off so that the computers shut down wayyy before the battery levels indicate that the batteries are out or even low. One, with a newish battery, knocks out at 50%, another with a older but good battery knocks out at around 30%. Apparently I need to reset the gauges of the battery levels somewhere, how do I do that?

Apple Remote ID? Part 658-0086-A

One of the guys at work was cleaning out a file drawer and came across a few items that appear to have come from an old Mac; one of them is an IR remote control that I haven't seen before. I don't have a camera handy, but did find one like it for sale on eBay & grabbed the photo from there (they sure don't make it easy to do that anymore!) The only Apple identifier on it is the logo on the front; the back has "Made in Malaysia" engraved in the case, and inside the battery compartment is a sticker with "658-0086-A" printed on it. That's pretty much it. Almost looks to be a generic remote that Apple repurposed for use with one of their machines. One of the buttons on it says "TV/MAC", so it may have been from a Mac TV or more likely from one of the Performa models; I remember some of them had IR ports on the front, and was it the 6200 that had a TV tuner built in? I just don't recall ever seeing an actual remote included with one... Anybody know what it came with? Thanks!

How about running GBBS with in Applewin?

What would the possibility of having GBBS run through Applewin? Since alot of people have already converted all their floppies to .DSK format and alot of the Hard Drive images as well have been converted of to .HDD . This would be kinda cool in itself! If there was a way for Applewin to emulate an Applecat Modem , or Micromodem or what ever one had at the time... Would be neat to boot up these old BBS's and run them again and see how they were at the time they went off line! I know that there are Telnet sites out there , but they seem to confusing and not editable when it comes to customizing the looks and feel of the site like GBBS was back in the day! If there was a program ou there that was as good as Gregg Sheaffers BBS program then I would jump at it to replicate a bbs that I enjoyed back in the day , but so far the ones that I have come accross look like Garbage.. Applefritter looks good , that's one good example of how a layout of a board should look like... But I know that there were a ton of bbs's back in the day that just ran off of two Disk ]['s . I have been in contact with the writers of Applewin and hopefully , someday , there will be an emulation of a modem! Anyways just wanted to pick everyone's brain for a sec to see what you thought. Patrick.
